2022 | Oil On Canvas, Stretched on Wood Frame

This painting was initially intended to be set in daylight. As the work progressed, her dress made me think of the gown of an angel. I decided to have her emerge from the dark as a water angel. Fetching water is an everyday task for millions of girls and mothers in Rwanda. They are extremely vulnerable conducting these tasks, especially when done in the dark. I, therefore, think of these girls and women as angels; doing what they need to do for their families despite the potential risks.
