Hirwa Bless Ainé Jovial

Fine Art Painter

Bless Ainé Jovial was born in Rwanda in 2001 and is a visual artist whose passion for art began in childhood through drawing detailed maps of Rwanda and Africa. What started as a personal hobby gradually developed into a deeper artistic practice centered on storytelling, emotion, and identity.

Hirwa studied graphic art at École d'Art de Nyundo, where he refined his skills in painting, drawing, illustration, and mixed media while growing within a vibrant artistic community. He later joined ADMA to study computer graphics. Inspired by both traditional and contemporary art, his fascination with visual storytelling was sparked after discovering a work by Rembrandt van Rijn on the cover of a childhood book — an experience that shaped his curiosity about the emotional and historical power of art.

Working across painting, collage, and mixed media, Hirwa creates emotionally driven works that explore memory, resilience, Black identity, and human connection. His practice often blends elements of history and imagination, creating visual narratives that reflect both personal and collective experiences.
Since beginning his professional journey in 2021, Hirwa has participated in several annual exhibitions between 2021 and 2025, including the Kigali Triennial 2024, Black Owned Gallery on Artsy, and solo shows in Rwanda and Belgium. Through his work, he seeks to empower and inspire people, especially those who feel unseen or unheard, using art as a tool for emotional connection and social reflection.

Currently based in Rwanda, Aine Jovial Hirwa continues to develop a body of work that merges storytelling, emotion, and cultural memory while exploring the transformative power of creativity.
