Kayimahe Ismael Zed is a self-taught visual artist based in Kigali, Rwanda. Since 2019, he has developed a portrait-centered practice that celebrates the beauty, resilience, and emotional depth of Black women.

Inspired by everyday life, his work explores themes of identity, dignity, and perseverance. Through deliberate brushwork, his portraits serve as a tribute to Black women who defy limitations, break barriers, and shape their own paths with courage and determination.
