I am currently in Rwanda, How do I buy artwork I like?

1. Identify the artwork(s) you wish to purchase and specify your purchase options such as size, material, and quantity. 

2. When you do this, you can buy it immediately by clicking 'BUY IT NOW', or you can click 'ADD TO CART' and keep shopping.

3. After selecting all the artworks you want to purchase, click on your cart at the top-right corner and proceed to check out.4.You will be prompted to submit your delivery details. Please include the necessary details on your location, and your phone number so our delivery team can find you! You will receive the artwork wrapped in a cardboard/paper box.  

How can I make payments for the artwork within Rwanda?

We accept Visa and MasterCard, as well as Mobile Money (MTN Rwanda). We reserve the right to have a customer service representative verify any orders over $100. This verification will occur over email from info@komezart.com and/or by phone. 

Does KomezArt deliver in Rwanda?

We offer shipping and delivery options within Kigali city. Purchases under $100 have a flat delivery rate of $5; purchases over $100 have a flat delivery rate of $10. Delivery takes between 7 - 10 days. A customer service representative will contact you directly to confirm the details of your delivery. 

FAQ FOR CUSTOMERS OUTSIDE OF RWANDA

I would like to buy original artwork but I am not in Rwanda, what options do I have and how do I receive the artwork?

1. Identify the artwork(s) you wish to purchase and email info@komezart.com with the subject line: KOMEZART INTERNATIONAL ORDER and include the URL link OR the name of the artist and artwork. Please include your name and shipping address in the body of the email as well.

2. We will confirm your order and shipping charges, and send you a final invoice with a secure link for online payment within 72 hours. Payments can be made by Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. 

3. Your order will be dispatched from Rwanda within one week upon receiving payment. Artworks painted on canvas will be removed from any wooden frames and rolled up in a tube ensuring the most affordable shipping rates; the artwork will arrive to you unstretched, at which point you can take it to a local frame shop to have it professionally stretched over wood or framed as per your preference!

4. Your artwork(s) will be shipped, duty unpaid*, and delivered to you within 7-14 days via DHL. The average price for international shipping of original artwork to North America and Western European countries is $150. 

*Depending upon the destination country, the parcel will be inspected by your local customs office, where any taxes and duties on the artwork will be calculated. The local DHL office will contact you to advise on the payment required before they complete the final stage of the delivery to bring the item to your given address. This final customs clearance stage can take from 2 days to 2 weeks depending on the volumes and capacity of your local customs agency.

I WOULD LIKE TO BUY A PRINT REPRODUCTION FROM OUTSIDE RWANDA, WHAT OPTIONS DO I HAVE AND HOW DO I RECEIVE THE ARTWORK?

We work with a network of high quality print distributors around the world, making printing and shipping accessible and affordable for you. Most orders can be delivered within 7-14 days.

Our art prints ship nearly worldwide, unfortunately orders can not currently be shipped to the following countries: Afghanistan, Central African Republic, Comoros, Cuba, Falkland Islands, Gambia, Guinea, Iran, Iraq, Kiribati, Libya, Myanmar, Nauru, Russian Federation, Saint Helena, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan, nor Turkmenistan. 

We offer small, medium and large printing options on high quality cotton-blend canvas, stretched over a wooden frame. [Please note, foam prints are not available for international shipping.] Specific print ratios are required for these orders and therefore some artworks must be cropped, or displayed with a mat background, to accommodate printing requirements; we will share a visual sample of this with you prior to confirming your order.

What is the difference between an original artwork and the different print choices?

Original artwork can be a painting on canvas stretched on a wood frame, ink on paper, or a framed photograph on paper. Original artworks are unique and therefore more valuable and thus more expensive. The details of the original artwork are present on each product page.

Print reproductions are images digitally printed onto different surfaces. This is a great option for transforming a digital artwork (created on a computer) into something tangible to display in your space. It also allows you to buy a more affordable version of artwork, particularly if the original was already sold or is not your preferred size.

We offer two different print options, including prints on Foam Board and on Canvas:

- Foam Board is a lightweight, easily-cut, paper-based material; it is firm and can not be bent or folded up. Foam board is our most affordable artwork option and is only available in Rwanda.

- Canvas is a cotton-blend material that comes stretched over a wooden frame.These prints are fade and water-resistant, providing the highest quality of art reproductions available. Canvas prints are available for customers internationally and within Rwanda.

Can I see the artwork before I buy it? Is KomezArt's artwork showcased anywhere in Rwanda for viewing?

To ensure artists can display and sell their creations at "live" galleries, we are not warehousing the artworks available on this site. Accordingly, we don't have the paintings available for advance viewing. However! We have a unique partnership with Umva Muhazi as a retail vendor, where you can find a sampling of our print reproduction offerings available in Rwanda.

How often does KomezArt add new artists or artwork?

We aim to add new artists to our platform quarterly, if not more often. Artist partners regularly share new artworks with us, which we subsequently add to the website. I like an artist’s style but want something unique. Can I request a custom artwork from a specific artist?

Commissions are open! Should you like an artist's style, or have a specific request for a commissioned artwork or series of artworks, please contact us with your request details. If it is a specific artist, tell us their name and your preferences; we will coordinate with our artist partners and follow up with you on the possibilities and timelines of undertaking your commissioned request. 

Where does the money from sales on the KomezArt site go?

Central to our work is creating social impact within the arts ecosystem in Rwanda. We prioritize adding value to the supply chain in the visual arts commercial sector and do so by facilitating sales of artworks on behalf of artists. Artist partners determine the wholesale prices for their artworks, upon which we add a percentage to be able to operate and grow a sustainable social enterprise. 

KomezArt also ensures tax compliance and legal representation on behalf of artists, with a licensing strategy in which Artists retain the copyrights to their original artwork creations. For the sales of any print reproductions of artworks, KomezArt pays Artists direct royalty payments. As our platform expands, we will work to grow more sustainable social impact strategies that strengthen the arts sector overall.

Why are your prices in USD when Rwanda uses RWF?

Our products are priced in US Dollars as a globally recognized currency, making conversions to other currencies easier. At the final stage of the checkout process on our website, you should be able to select your local debit or credit cards to purchase in your own currency. This amount is the converted value from the dollar listed price by our credit card processing partner, DPO.

Can I return or exchange a piece of artwork I bought?

Should you not be satisfied with your purchase, we offer the option to return any original artworks to us within 7 days of receiving your items. The artwork must be returned in its original condition and is subject to a 25% restocking fee; we will reimburse you the full purchase price, less the restocking fee and original delivery fees (customer is responsible for return-shipping charges). Credit card refunds will take approximately 14 business days from the time we receive your return. Please contact us by email at info@komezart.com to request a return. Unfortunately we can not honor refunds or returns of print reproductions. 

Can I buy a gift certificate?

Gift certificates are available for purchase! Contact us directly at info@komezart.com, and we will send you a secure link for payment and you will receive a downloadable file by email.
