Itweka #14
2024 | Original Artwork
ITWEKA is a series of 18 artworks ladened with geometric shapes and bright natural colors, promoting cultural diversity and playing a key role in how individuals share their values and cultures. The Rwandan contemporary artist derived the collection’s name from ‘umutweka’, one of the many traditional decorative patterns which almost disappeared following the turmoil of the genocide. As a cultural resurgence takes over the country 25 years later, the art form is making a strong comeback.
The original artwork is available as a single edition digital print on paper, digitally signed by the artist, and finished with an 3cm mat board behind glass, within a white frame of 2cm. The approx. dimensions of the framed artwork are 48x39 cm. It is also available as KomezArt print reproductions on canvas or foam.
The exhibition is on display at Francophone Cultural Centre of Rwanda, 25 KG 624 St, Kigali, from 22 February to 15 March 2024.
