Sunshine
2025 | Mixed Media: Acrylic & Fabric Collage on Canvas, Stretched on Wood Frame
This contemporary artwork challenges harmful narratives about women. The common stereotypes that “women are their worst enemies,” that “women’s friendships are shallow and fake,” or that “women secretly hate and are jealous of each other” are misguided and reductive. These views ignore the reality that women, like all people, can disagree, but they do not define our relationships or our strength. Women are capable of deep, loving, and supportive friendships. Some may experience jealousy or conflict, but that doesn’t represent the fullness of women’s bonds. The best, longest, and most meaningful friendships I have had are with women. My support system has always been women. Female friendships recharge us, nurture us, and create spaces of safety and understanding. Like sunshine, they warm, brighten, and carry us through life.
