2023 | Ballpoint Pen Drawing On Paper, Mixed Media, Framed

This artwork pays homage to women who possess a deep understanding of their own value and believe that they are deserving of desire. It celebrates their independence and self-sufficiency, as they can fulfill their own desires without relying on others. The presence of cowrie earrings, along with an abundance of wealth symbolized by another near her hand, represents the prosperity they hold. Drawing inspiration from Mona Lisa's mysterious smile, I incorporated the face of a slave woman to honor those exceptional women who, despite enduring the horrors of slavery, managed to rise above their circumstances and leave a lasting legacy.
