Drained
2020 | Acrylic, Threads (embroidery) on canvas stretched on wood frame
This diptych artwork shows two connected people at odds with each other. Even though they are not on good terms, they are holding on to each other, hoping for the best. Each of their bodies reflects their connectedness to the other: her body is made of threads, suggesting the ambition and direction of the relationship, with every thread following a pattern, while his body is comprised of sunflowers, demonstrating the sweetness of love, akin to how flowers attract bees to create honey; the are facing away from one another but remain connected, still bearing each other's threads and flowers, each needing and wanting something from the other for their relationship to survive. But how long can they last before the thread that connects them is cut? The purchase price includes the two pieces of the diptych.
