Inzitane
Inzitane
2022 | Acrylic On Canvas, Stretched on Wood Frame
Inzitane derives from the Rwandan term “Ishyamba ry’Inzitane,” meaning a dense forest with predominantly natural trees. This artwork is inspired by the true story of a woman facing various challenges, likened to the complexities of “ishyamba ry’inzitane”—some natural, others artificial. The crown is symbolic of one's identity, representing the belief that women possess innate strength to navigate challenges and retain the crown bestowed by God. The message here encourages women not to be defined by their hardships but to overcome them, as the world relies on their strength as pillars.
