Old Man / Contemplation

2021 | Acrylic On Canvas, Stretched On Wood Frame

This piece is about capturing a moment of mortality and the act of reflecting on one's self, hence the secondary title Contemplation. The subject of the painting is actually my grandfather and as time goes on, he seems to wallow or sink into thought more often. I shared the painting with him, without telling him that he is the subject, and he responded: "I see a man that is thinking, he looks maybe miserable or tired. He seems to be thinking about life, maybe his, and all the aspects of it..."
