Important occasions in Rwanda always involve the ceremonial consumption of alcohol and food. A pot of sorghum beer and calabashes full of banana beer are passed through the crowd with numerous reed straws. This still-life impasto painting with bold brushstrokes invokes these traditional brewery tools to revitalize them in modern Rwanda.
