This historic piece celebrates Queen Dowager Rosalie Gicanda, the wife of Rwandan King Mutara III Rudahigwa. After mysterious circumstances led to her husband's death, the Rwandan monarchy only lasted two more years. However, Queen Rosalie continued to live in Butare the Southern Province of Rwanda, along with her mother and several ladies-in-waiting until her death in 1994.
