The Last 'Never Send' Letter
2023 | Charcoal & Acrylic On Canvas, Stretched on Wood Frame
"LAST “NEVER SEND” LETTER (a poem)
I wish you were wicked to me,
I would’ve had a chance to detest all that you own,
even your name.
I would’ve confirmed it as real love
If I had not minded and held on to you.
I wish you broke me so bad,
I would’ve had a point hating myself,
my whole life.
I would’ve certified my final destination
If I‘d still loved the idea of dying with you in my thoughts.
I wish I met others that fit my wants and needs;
I would’ve had better versions of perfect,
Fully invested.
I would have listed you atop all my other blessings
If I’d still chosen you among those pure souls.
I wish I loved you past my sabotage,
I would’ve been more confident,
At home with my solitude.
I would have sought to brighten your soul again
And not fear being a distraction.
I wish you stayed a little bit longer,
I would’ve been your obsession through thick and thin
More an addiction
I’d still look back to you
If I felt that magical.`"
